    Soils that are not compacted will lead to a settling in the foundation of the structure which can lead to cracked plaster, masonry, drywall or  structural failure if there is severe displacement.

    Different types of soils have different load bearing pressures. Therefore, soil tests are often required before the footing design process can proceed.

    There are all kind of soil such as such as sand, gravel, silt, sedimentary rock, and clay – all soils that are incapable of supporting larger loads will necessitate the installing a wider footing. If the footing is inappropriate, the concrete can crack. It is therefore crucial to have proper concrete dimensions in order to ensure a stable footing. Precision calculation of floating dimensions for varying soil types, the structural sizes, and requirements of steel reinforcement are mandatory to ensure proper structural integrity.
